Located on The Wild Atlantic way within a short distance from the Five Fingers Strand and Knockamany Bends is a small family run Bar “Doherty’s Bar” Umgall in Malin Head, Co Donegal. We serve homemade delights such as scones, wheaten bread, soup and seafood chowder and tasty tray bakes from May to September.
We are a provider of amazing rock climbing adventures for all levels, regardless of experience. Our rock climbing ascents take place at Ireland’s most Northerly point, Malin Head, the home of Star Wars Episode VIII. Your guide is Bren Whelan, a highly qualified Mountain Instructors Certificate (MIC)& International Mountain Leader (IML) award holder, who has over twenty five years of experience rock climbing in Ireland and Worldwide. His passion is to guide people on Donegal’s finest sea cliffs and take them to truly unique places along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.
Bren Whelan, Muff
Farren’s Bar is Ireland’s most Northerly pub. The Bar has been in the Farren Family for six generations since 1825! It has a warm friendly local atmosphere which is the ideal place to sit and relax for a pint and a chat. Entertainment most nights during the summer months, live music, quizzes, discos and traditional music. In winter, play pool, enjoy a real fire, chat and craic. Coffee and pizzas also available.
Malin Head, Inishowen
Gortnamullan Cottage is a spacious, modern four bed roomed cottage, nestled in the idyllic, rugged coastal surroundings of White Strand Bay in Malin Head at the northern most tip of the Wild Atlantic Way coastal route. The cottage has two double bedrooms on the ground floor, one of which is ensuite, two upstairs bedrooms with double and single beds. The cottage can sleep ten guests.
A beautiful and relaxing centre for everyone, which hosts a tourism information point, craft shop and Northern Bites Café (renowned for their homemade chowder and baked goods); Cultural Heritage exhibitions; currently on display the marine exhibition ‘Banba the basking shark’ a wonderfully creative exhibit on the life of Malin Head’s own basking shark Banba. Schools and youth groups welcome with a children’s colouring/workbook available. Malin Head Heritage groups homestead mapping and oral history project. Ballygorman, Malin Head
A fishing Co-Op with 15-20 boats. Fish for whelks, velvet crabs and lobsters. Boats are 10 -15 meters in length and land daily.
Portmór Pier, Malin Head
At Malin Head Tours we facilitate guided tours of all of Inishowen which can take up to a few days. We also offer full day, half day or a short tour of Malin Head area only, which can last up to two hours and Northern Lights tours. Tours can be as part of a prearranged group or tailor made to meet the visitors needs. No refunds will be given unless Malin Head Tours cancel the tour. Adequate clothing and footwear are stongly advised on all tours.
Rate from €12 pp. Located on the sea front above the pier and slipway overlooking “White Strand Bay”, the headlands of Inishowen and Fanad Peninsulas. The hostel offers modern budget accommodation with up to date facilities including a large double self-catering kitchen, dining and lounge area with 20 comfortable bunk beds in en-suite dormitories.
