The Famine Village tells the story of a family living on the edge and surviving, from the Famine of the 1840s to the present time. Remoteness, isolation and reliance on small plots of land made this area a harsh place to live. Yet the same families have lived here for generations. Learn how these people adapted and survived in their environment. Catering for coaches, groups and families Open 7 days a week from 17th March to 31st October Opening hours are 10am to 5pm. Admission €8 for Guided Tour. Under 12s €4 and Under 4s Go Free. Admission includes Tea/Coffee in Kitty Sean’s Kitchen. Continuous tours everyday from 10:30am to 4:30pm except for Friday, when last tour is at 2pm.
The Inishowen Peninsula in County Donegal has its very own Inishowen 100 (Voted one of Ireland’s Top Ten Scenic Drives – Irish Independent 2010), which allows you to get around the Inishowen area in Donegal without missing anything important. The Wildfowl Reserve can either be entered through Burt or Inch Island in Donegal. The state-of-the-art planetarium features accurate depictions of our night skies and multi-media presentations depicting voyages through the universe. Grianan of Aileach Donegal: The Grianan Aileach Stone Fort, once the seat of the High Kings, is built on the site of the original 1700 B.C. ring fort. It looks out over the beautiful waters of County Donegal, Derry, Tyrone and Antrim.
The Celtic Prayer Garden is a six-acre site laid out in the shape of the island of Ireland which depicts the lives of the major saints of Ireland’s Golden Age. You can tour the garden, enjoy its wonderful peace and natural beauty and learn more about our common Celtic Christian heritage. We also have a Cafe, giftshop and an organic vegetable Farm. Also on our complex we have self-catering chalet type accommodation which is ideally for holiday breaks! Mon-Thurs-9am-5pm Fri-9am-4pm Spring/Summer months: 2pm-5pm.

We are based at Inishowen Computer Systems store and have a gallery and studio here. We are one of Ireland’s leading Aurora Borealis – The Northern Lights photographers and our work has been seen and displayed across the world. We love to photograph everything about Ireland, its history and culture. We have done work also for TV and film companies and we provide local photographer tours / holidays around the beautiful stunning Inishowen peninsula. We also provide training in photography and hold regular workshops throughout the year. We have an amazing gallery on display of the world famous Northern Lights plus other beautiful scenes.
