BeatlesFest on the Lough | 3rd – 7th August 2017, Moville & Greencastle
BeatlesFest 2017 will take place from the 3rd to 7th of August in 2017. It is the 11th running of the BeatlesFest on the Lough in Moville Co. Donegal. Donegal is Ireland’s northernmost county and at Malin Head (where they recently filmed for the next Star Wars movie) you are at the northernmost point in Donegal and therefore Ireland. In one direction across the water lies Scotland and to the west lies the USA. If you missed the Sixties then Moville is the place to be that weekend. It’s a fun packed long weekend with Beatles music for 5 days in multiple locations indoors and outdoors with Lough Foyle as a backdrop.

The 50th Clonmany Festival will be held from Sunday 6 th to Sunday 13 th August. This is a family event and is a week of summer fun for all ages. Malin Head Heritage – Photography Competition – 7th August
Photography Competition: Flora & Fauna in Malin Head 3 categories: Wild Birds Wild Animals Wild Plants & Insects Competition Rules: All photographs must be taken in the parish of Malin/Cloncha. Details of where and when photo was taken must accompany the photo (not on the photo). Photos taken since 1st January 2016 are eligible, provided that they have not been entered in any other competition. A maximum of 4 photos per person may be submitted. Images must be submitted as JPEG files and must have a minimum of 1 Mb. Email your photos to email@example.com with subject; Photo Competition 2017. Include your name (not on the photo), contact details, location and date on which photo was taken. Prizes in each of the 3 Categories: 1st – €50 2nd – €30 3rd – €20 Special Prize for best photo taken by a National School and Secondary School pupil. National Heritage Week | 19th – 27th August 2017
National Heritage Week takes place from Saturday 19th to Sunday 27th August 2017. Each year many national and hundreds of local community organisations participate by organising events throughout Ireland. Many of the events that take place during the week are free and the programme highlights the abundance of great work that is carried out in all communities in Ireland to preserve and promote our natural, built and cultural heritage. Whether it is nature and wildlife, folklore, or built heritage, National Heritage Week aims to deliver messages and events that are positive, engaging and relevant in people’s day to day lives. Any person or organisation can actively take part in the Week and organise an event which educates people and promotes an aspect of Irelands Heritage. Events hosted nationwide are hugely diverse in subject and many are organised by local communities lending great authenticity and variety to the events. Examples of events (to name but a few) include medieval fairs, night-time bat walks, wildlife walks and lectures, traditional music sessions, storytelling, historical re-enactments, and local history walks and talks and maritime and coastal events. DylanFest on the Lough 2017 | 24th – 28th August 2017, Moville
It’s on again in 2017 – Stuck Inside of Moville, the DylanFest on the Lough, Ireland’s only annual festival of Bob Dylan music in Moville, Donegal. Europe’s biggest festival of the music of Bob Dylan takes place in the picturesque holiday town of Moville which lies 18 miles north of Derry. To the background of the salmon fishing Lough Foyle, acts play Dylan music for four days and nights indoors and outdoors in multiple pubs and at the Putting Green Cafe which overlooks Lough Foyle. The festival started in 2007. There are acts from all over Europe who play and visitors from all around the world. Moville is Dylanville in late August.

Talk will take place on the important worked carried out by Amy Young in Inishowen on 25th August from 11am – 5pm at St. Buadan’s Church, Culdaff ~ Booking required Join the Lands of Éogain as we celebrate the work of Amy Young and her contribution to our knowledge of families in Inishowen from 1600. The day will include talks and a tour of her family home and local heritage sites. This event focuses on Amy Young and her book “300 Years in Inishowen” focusing on the Young family relations in Culdaff. The day will start with talks by local experts including Rachel Macgowan, followed by lunch and a tour of Culdaff House. In the afternoon participants will be treated to a heritage bus tour led by well-known heritage guides Dessie McCallion and Sean Beattie.
