Lands Of Eogain – Awarded Heritage Grant – Inishowen

The Heritage Council have announced funding for 196 heritage projects across Ireland under its 2017 Community Heritage Grants Scheme.The Lands of Eogain Heritage group, based in Inishowen, Co. Donegal, have secured one of these grants.

Lands Of Eogain, Inishowen, Donegal

Lands of Eogain (LOE) is an Inishowen-wide Heritage group that aims to raise awareness and appreciation of Heritage in Inishowen by collaborating with local experts and international groups. The aims of the group are to provide training opportunities, develop and deliver projects and promote Inishowen as a significant heritage tourist destination. In relation to the application submitted to the Heritage Council, LOE members stated that;

The focus of the project is to raise awareness of the unique and pivotal role of female historians and folklore archivists in the documentation of the heritage of Inishowen

To date the LOE have hosted a number of successful events and projects that include the annual; Lands Of Eogain Festival and a seminar on the life and work of Mabel Colhoun, see below.
