Lucasfilm cast and crew filmed sequences for Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, in May 2016.

The world watched the trailer released, along with 50,000+ fans at the Stars Wars Celebration, in Orlando, Florida. (#SWCO) It’s clear the trailer follows straight on from The Force Awakens, featuring the new planet ‘Ahch-To’ where Luke Skywalker featured at the end scene. We look forward to seeing more shots of Rey training at the beach. Along with Fisher, firm favourites from The Force Awakens will also return. The impressive cast continues with Laura Dern, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o and Andy Serkis – as well as Warwick Davis & Benicio del Toro.

Tourism Ireland built a section of steps, which is inspired by the planet Ahch-To. This encouraged a number of fans to stop, take a photo, exchange stories and to enquire with Inishowen Tourism and other Tourism providers.  The planet that was created at SWCO was where the first Jedi temple was built, which will feature in the most anticipated movie of the year. The trailer was released at The Last Jedi Panel @ SWCO for fans; John Boyega and Daisy Ridley star as heroic duo Finn and Rey. Mark Hamill will play the iconic Luke Skywalker and Ireland will feature as the setting for the planet ‘Ahch-To’ in the Star Wars universe.

The Last Jedi director is said to be a passionate writer and enjoys his own independent writing (something he shared with Carrie Fisher). Rian loves creating stories focused on incredibly fierce & independent women.

Speaking on Ireland – Director, Rian Johnson said:

‘We Miss You Guys! We love you guys. We had a great time in Ireland, shooting some beautiful, beautiful landscapes’

Daisy Ridley revealed that, ‘The Last Jedi’ will go deeper into Rey’s story. She has alot of expectations of what she wants to get from Luke. Meeting your heroes can be difficult.

Speaking on Ireland – Daisy Ridley said:

‘We had an incredible time in Ireland, I felt a certain responsibility in the role. Luckily, Rian’s writing is beautiful, the locations are stunning and we just had the best time there!’

Why Did Luke Skywalker Seek Solitude on Ahch-To ?

Excitement has been building over the past few months. Some of the fans at #SWCO suggested that Luke should speak ( …at least say some more lines!) alot more in the trailer, others wanted to see more of the Planet Ahch-To, where Luke has sought solitude in the previous movie – The Force Awakens. What will happen if there is a confrontation with Kylo Ren? Will he keep his helmet on!? So many questions that we hope we’re able to answer for you soon …
